Sunset Dinner at Fort Sumter

There’s only one thing better than an evening touring one of the most historical forts in America, and that is touring the fort while chowing down on BBQ! Why? Because BBQ makes everything better.

Charleston is ground zero for Civil War buffs, and Fort Sumter Tours is offering up their popular “Sunset at Fort Sumter” behind the scenes tour again this year. You’ll be able to enjoy history accompanied by fine Southern BBQ every Friday night now through October 14.

Hop aboard a harbor cruise and experience a waterside view of the historic, architectural gem known as Charleston, SC. While on board you will have the honor of being accompanied by historians dressed in authentic Civil War regalia and learn in-depth details of the Civil War.

Once at the fort, you’ll be treated to the rich history provided by the National Park Service Rangers against the backdrop of city views, the harbor, and the Atlantic Ocean, drenched in the orange glow of the setting sun.

For the return cruise, relax and take in the spectacular views of the harbor and her marine life while dining on exquisite southern BBQ cuisine. They’ve got house smoked pulled pork BBQ served with a variety of delicious sauces, backyard chicken, baked mac and cheese, baked beans, and southern-style coleslaw – it’ll make your tongue slap your brains out, it’s so good.

It’s a popular attraction so you’ll want to make advance reservations by calling 843-722-BOAT, or by walking up to the 340 Concord Street (Liberty Square) gate.
